Which gun.
Its between these 2 rifles and they both come in the 3 calibers I am tryin to decide on.
Browning A-Bolt II Composite Stalker - .270 WSM, 7mm WSM, or .300 WSM Browning A-Bolt Hunter .270 WSM, 7mm WSM, .300 WSM Ruger 77 Standard .270 WSM, 7mm WSM, .300 WSM My pros/cons Browning A-Bolt II CS: Fits good, looks good, experienced with them. Con's, the price and 23" barrel, doesnt come with scope bases or rings . $789.95 w/o tax. Browning A-Bolt Hunter: Fits pretty good, looks good, price is better than the CS. Con's, 23" Barrel and price. $589.95 w/o tax, doesnt come with scope bases or rings. Ruger 77 Standard: Fits good, looks good, price is cheaper than both brownings, have some experience with ruger's, they also come with rings. Con's the buttstock is about 1/2" to 1" too long but would be fine if topped with a scope that has a eye relief of 3.75" or longer. |

It's a simple job for any competent gunsmith, and not very expensive. |
RE: Which gun.
Thats what I was thinkin because my dad has cut stocks down before. I figured I would take off 1/4" at a time untill its just right.

RE: Which gun.
I love my Composite Stalker but you need to check around on prices. Granted mine isn't chambered in WSM but even taking that into consideration I still think the $800 price is too high. I wouldn't have bought mine if it had cost nearly twice the price of a Ruger.
Nothing against Ruger but if you can afford a Browning then buy the Browning. |
RE: Which gun.
what is so great about wsm or wssm I personally like my win 70 featherweight 270win, marlin 357mag, and 7.62X54mm m-44 carbine.
The browning is nice and 60" turn bolt, I would go with the synthetic or get yourself measured and see which one would would prefer to carry and the stock fits you best. |
RE: Which gun.
I should have typed down that the browning I mentioned wasnt a CS. It was a stainless stalker. My .308 CS was $595 out the door.
Archblackmage, whats so great about it is there isnt something thats so great. I just prefer magnums or just larger calibers. More Specifically .30 caliber guns. A bazooka wont kill a deer any deader than the next gun. |

Browning A-Bolt II CS: Fits good, looks good, experienced with them. Con's, the price and 23" barrel, doesnt come with scope bases or rings . $789.95 w/o tax. BTW, Wal-Mart sells the composite stalker for $581.65. You can pick your gun on their website, print out the page, take it to the sporting goods section, and they'll order one for you. |
RE: Which gun.
Ruger. Good luck.

RE: Which gun.
SS does make a difference when your talking $$ :D
If you like smooth action and good trigger on CS that you already have I would go with CS SS in 270 WSM. The Hunter is a nice looking rifle but I haven't bought a wood stocked big game rifle in years. |
RE: Which gun.
Would a A-bolt Stainless Steel 7mm mag interest you?
Slightly used, But the price is right, plus rings... http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976572439.htm |
