Sellier & Bellot Ammo
Has anyone tried this ammo? Is it good? I know that they are making it with Barnes and Sierra bullets but I still don't hear any opinions on its performance.
Any opinions out there? |

I used to use S&B ammo in 22 hornet. It always shot well for me. I usually got 1" groups at 100 yards. Which is probably about as good as any ammo would of shot out of that gun. I tried several different loads, and they all averaged that. Good buy IMHO.

It is made in Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic I think. I don't know why they'd use bullets made in the U. S.. Maybe they've a license to produce bullets and use those names on them. The only thing I ever used it in was a Model 94 Mauser, and it didn't do well. But neither did any other factory ammo.

fired alot of their buckshot.....went bang every time....thats about all i know.....nothing like a good stress reliefe....set up some water jugs...pop cans....ect...and stand back.....load up the riot guns full of buckshot and any other safe random 12ga loads we could find and just blast away....the buckshot is self defense stuff my buddy keeps....and when he gets it cheap he will burn some up....and get rid of some old stuff......

I shoot a lot of 303 brit., S&B 303 is the best ammo and is great for reloading( boxer primed).
The 25 rnd boxs of OO buck shot work great also. Johnch |

I use their 45 acp the brass is excellent for reloading, its good ammo

We in Russia are compelled to shoot poor-quality cartridges.

before my grandfather died he worked for a ammuntion plant in the former yugoslavia, the ammo was packaged under the hansen cartridge company here in the US. Sasha have you ever tried any of this ammo? I used to use it alot in 308 and 30-06 but now days i cant find it anymore it was some good stuff, Then I started using S&B and it seems to be just as good. perhaps S&B supplies second rate stuff to europe but I have had good results here in the US.

You are right. 308 win is exception (tolerable cartridge. 308Win SB33145 HPBT, Sierra MatchKing BTHP).
But this exception of a rule. Yes I shot. This target mine in the first message. My friends almost.all badly think of this firm too. Exception, as 308 win a military cartridge and to it the big requirements... You surprise me. We in Russia dream of such cartridges as Hornady, Federal Premium....which in Russia are difficult for getting and you search for such rubbish......:( |

Earlier today I picked up a couple boxes of S&B 62 grain SS109 ammo, I just got back inside from shooting a few rounds. My bushmaster A3 rifle is zeroed at 100 yards with lake city 62 grain SS109, heres a pic of how she did with the S&B SS109 at 100 yards.

I've used it in 9mm and 357mag. Fed and fired fine through my SW 5906. The 357 casings didn't want to come out of my SW 340 Airlite's cylinder after firing, but its a hard gun to find 357 ammo for that doesn't cause problems with.

WHEN THE 30-30 WAS POPULAR IN THE US, THE .303 BRIT. WAS POPULAR IN ENGLAND, AFRICA AND CANADA. IT TOOK MORE GAME IN THOSE 3 COUNTRIES THAN THE 30-30 IN THE US. Remarkable cartridge. It agree. Friends have told me, that military cartridges in .223 and 308 calibres are forbidden to import Russia.
Therefore we do not know them. Other cartridges in class SBXXXXX - bad. |
