just purchased some ammo for 270.

Just got some ammo for my browning bar 270. I bought the federal powershok 150 grain. Does anyone have any experience with it. what kind of luck have you had with 150 grain bullets?
thanks

Supperrman,

For deer I use 130gr NP. What are your choices for game?

I've tried it in my Rem.700LSS Mtn. rifle, and it shoots pretty good; about 1-1/2" groups
at 100yds for 4or5 shots. Haven't had a chance to hunt with it yet. My other 150gr. load
that I normally use is Rem. 150gr. Core-Lokts. The Rem. stuff also shoots about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2". Nice thing is though, both the Federal & the Remington shoot to the same POI
with my rifle.:D
Now, Federal Premium 150gr. Nosler Part. loads shoot about 1" groups in my rifle, but given the cost of the ammo I'll stick with the cheaper stuff. Whitetail deer don't need
premium bullets. Also, if I used the Fed. Prem. ammo I'd have to adjust my sights for
a different POI (they group low/left of the others).

Superrman,

Anything that touches a bullet in flight will deflect it from it's point of aim.
.130 or .458.
Fla. is Brushy and Cypress Swamps, but everyone I know in FLA., shoots .130 NP.
in .270.

Frankly you don't need much of a bullet for killing deer.....the .270 is a lot of power and any 150 grain bullet is adequate for the task.

i only use 13o grain for my 270 in winchester super X power point or silver tips. 150 grain 270win by the winchester company are recommended for elk. In my opinion I want the bullet to travel to the game the quickest it can, so the 130grain is what I use. By the way my win. model 70 syn, featherweight prefer super x to remington core lock and all of the surpreme line of winchest, I have also used some less expessive 130grains from dunham's

In my 270 I have tried 130 gr Rem, Fed and Winchesters....they all got same poin and all grouped well. The Winchesters may have actually grouped better than my beloved Federals this time. All 3 were under 1.5-2 inches with 5 shots. On the other hand my gun didnt like the 150' at all..lol. Only thing to do if ya can is get a box of everything and try em all.

Superrman,

I use Winchester Fail Safes 140 grain. Got four deer in KY (Nov 2003) hunting farms.

They are pretty expensive but have always worked great for me.
