I just bought a 110 savage 270. What grain and type of off the shelf bullet would you recomend for deer hunting. Some of my shots will be out to 200 yrs. Thanks for your help

I use Federal classics 130 grain Hi Shok Soft point in my 270, They are very accurate and lethal on deer. 130 grain is kind of the pet bullett for the 270, i use 150 noslers for elk with my 270.

RE: bullets

For deer I like the 130 grain Core-Lokt. They're not the "greatest" bullet in the world, but they group in my 270 and they're not too expensive. Plus you can get them everywhere.

I didn't like the Core-Lokt on bear. I shot one with CL's and one with Fail Safe 140's. The Fail Safe's were a better bear bullet....at least in my case. The Fail Safes cost more than twice the CL's though.

But like Kirkl said...federal makes good ammo.

Just but a box of several diff kinds and have a ball shootin em up! That's the way to tell.
