RE: what to buy? buckmark, ruger mkIII, or other
Mauser06 Practice makes perfect.
The Ruger's can be tricky to disassemble and reassemble.Once you get the hang of them it's not to bad. It's been along time since I took one apart.I would probably have to study it again.I faintly remember there was book or booket with tips explaining the easy disassembly and assembly for the little Ruger's.I haven't seen this booklet lately. The Ruger's owners manual gives step by step. There is bound to be someone who can give you and your dad pointers on these little jewels. It's easy once you get the hang of it. Ruger Redhawk |

RE: what to buy? buckmark, ruger mkIII, or other
I've got a Mk2 government model and love the thing to death. Great gun, and not hard at all to take down. On the Mk3 note, I've heard that there have been occasion where that loaded chamber indicator (why do you need one?) setting off rounds if struck. Anyone else here this?

RE: what to buy? buckmark, ruger mkIII, or other
If possible try to handle them both, how do they "feel"?, better yet shoot them both. I am sure they are both fine arms.
I prefer Ruger, it is what I started with and have no reason to try another. My first was the Ruger MK2, have had NO problems with it in 11 years. |
RE: what to buy? buckmark, ruger mkIII, or other
I own a S&W model 41 with a aim point on it and I love it. Ive owned & shot several rugers and there nice pistols but the S&W 41 fits my hand the best and I like the balance.

I have a Buckmark standard Nickle and it is a very good gun but it does not like the winchester expert ammo, it will not eject them. The Ruger is also a very good gun.
Go handle both of them and get the one that feels the best for you. |
