Hey, I love glocks. rugged, dependable, light, they just work.

If it "fits" your hand and you're wanting a defensive weapon, the Glock is hard to beat!! It's no secret that they're not the prettiest thing to look at, but that was not what they were made for. Gaston Glock developed them to be a simple-operating defensive pistol with good accuracy for a combat weapon and he did very well. Love 'em or hate 'em, they'll be around for ever.

nice gun if you like 40's I prefer the 21 which is a 45.

Do yourself a favor and look at Springfields XD series of pistols. They are above and beyond Glock in my opinion.

I wont lie XD's are great guns and are every bit as good or better then glocks but I have one problem with the XD they dont make it in a 45. Im actually thinking of getting a XD next but will more then likely get one in 9mm for target practice

RE: Glock 22

I have the Service model(4 inch barrel) in 9mm.

They just started making a tactical model(5 inch barrel) in .45GAP, I don't think they are selling it yet but I read a write-up on it. Tomarrow I'll see if I can find the article.

RE: Glock 22

im not a big 45 gap fan, personally i dont see the logic. other then glock wanted to make their own 45 caliber which i feel really is screwing up the 45 market. id buy a XD in a heart beat shoot id buy 2, a 4 inch and 5 inch if they would make it in a 45 acp.

RE: Glock 22

I looked at the XD line, and even rented one for a session, I just didn't like it. Maybe it was the fit. Maybe it was mental cause its such a knock off of the glock. I guess the hand safety is great on a 1911. Its been there for so long it would be hard to think of it without it. But one thing I like about the glock is its a all business, no nonsense, no frills gun. That seems to be its whole selling point to me. If I wanted frills I would go get the king of frills, like a berretta or Kimber or the new sig 1911. I am a one side of the street guy.

Wow. Lotta good replies. THANK YOU!!

bigcountry and TC fan - appreciate the comments.

HiDesertWolf - had the 21. A little too big for my hand. Not comfortable. Traded it in on a Sig P220. Much better.

JadeDragon - Shot an XD on Wed. evening and did not like it. Pinched my hand upon recoil. Nice gun otherwise. Light, pointed well, felt like a Glock in my hand until I shot it. I didn't care for it. JMHO.

bigcountry - that's what I think of the XD. Couldn't quite put my finger on it, just didn't like it as much as the Glock. That, and it pinched my hand after the shot.

Thanks all.

Sure its a fine gun, but I got some large paws. Pistols is something really people has to make thier minds up on thier own. I love the feel of a 15 year old 92FS I have and figured everyone would. But I think I am alone in that.

Well then you might check out the Tactical model, it's a bit bigger all around then the 4 inch Service model.

Plus, it is not a glock knockoff. It takes the best designs from the 1911, SIG and glock and rolls them all up with their own mix of spices.

Having been carrying my Glock 22 as a duty weapon for almost three years now. Several thousand rounds fired and it has been 100% reliable. Liked it so much I bought a Glock 27 for off duty and it to has performed 100%.

I think you will very pleased with a glock, i just have to ask are you looking for reasons not to get one? or just looking for critacism on the glock? I love glocks I also do like the XD's but everyone has their own opinions. You might try out a taurus millenium pro ive usually steered clear from taurus because of the rumor that they have poor metallurgy but lately they have been punching out some nice lookin guns I picked up a Millenium pro PT 145 on a super deal to me its alot like a glock 30 but with a few differences i feel actually make it slightly better then a glock from the safety aspect. though its taurus and im very critical and discriminant when it comes to choosing a gun I truly like the taurus and feel it has great workmanship in it and its deffinately a no frills to the point defense tool I almost like it just as much as my glock 30 i think you should deffinately check one out.

I love my Glock although it's a 23 (kinda the midsize version of .40 SW).I use it as a CCW and it's no problem what-so-ever to conceal. Glocks fit the K.I.S.S. theory quite well. Good luck.

I've been carrying a Glock 22 for seven years now. In my unit we have fired 10's of thousands of rounds through our pistols without fail. They are very reliable and simple to operate. Depending on what you want it for, go for it, hard to beat as a general duty all around carry rig.

RE: Glock 22

I had a glock in a 9MM for almost 15 years. Put piles of rounds through it. I finaly traded it this year because I want a bigger round now, 40 or 45. The only time it ever had any problems was if I used range reloads. Then once in a while it would not eject a spent round like it should. Since I moved from Los Angeles I don't find the need to have a hand gun like when I was there. :D

One nice thing about a Glock is that it's so easy to field strip & clean!
