Scope Levelers
 

I recently purchased a new rifle and scope. While I have mounted 1 scope before, on my Ruger SRH, I want to make sure the scope is mounted the best it can be.

I am familiar with lapping bars and lapping compound, that’s not where my concern lies. I am more worried about the alignment of the reticle. While I think I got lucky when I mounted my first scope, I am looking for something a little more reliable.

Has anyone used a scope leveler before, such as the product from Deadeye Precision Products [link]http://www.deadeye2.com[/link]?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Never used it, but it looks nice.
looks like you can make one for about $10

I put a level and plumb line intersection on my tartget board, and set the cross hairs by that. I've learned to do it when I get new glasses though, changing astigmatism will distort the way you see the reticule. [8D]

They might be great if your going to shoot your rifle in a mounted state. I mean everybody holds a rifle different!! Some cant it one way and some others. The best way is for you to hold your rifle and move the crosshair until you think they are the way you want it,not a mechnical device. You do want the gun to fit you in all ways not what someone else says or thinks. Its your gun remember that,and your the one going to shoot it. vangunsmith

I also use the Segway,but first check alignment of Rings with Ring Aligner from
Brownells. If rings are not consistent, they will Tweek the the scope. If they don't
align, I hone them out with a valve grinding compound and a wooden Dowel,
then use the Segway.....to align cross hairs.
Or use Brass shims!
