hey borty, i've got two varmint guns a rem 700 in 22-250 and a nef in 243, i really like the 22-250 it does have the rep as a barrel burner, i have had mine 20+ years and i'll shoot it 20-50 times a year, and i have not experineced any problems, when and if i do i'll either rebarrel or buy another 22-250, i have not tried some of the others but have not heard any bad on them either.

I like my .220 swift , Ruger mkII /with 8x32x50 BSA alittle trigger work and you have a varmit killing machine.

Im saying 204 Ruger or 223 Rem. Either one is great but you cant beat the price of ammo on 223
