Just bought an 06, Rem model 700 stainless/synthetic, and have a Rem semi auto 06. Time to buy a new one when I missed my first deer this year with the semi (my fault not the rifle's) Any reason to buy a new one right!

30-06. and you can hunt anything that moves. just about anything.

Hey mossy33oak, I agree with you about 742s. I inherited one eight years ago and never had a jam. I had one before that and sold it for a Browning BAR, and regreted it. The BAR is a good gun, but the 742 is handier. Both my 742s were made in the early 70's and I heard that the 7400s that replaced them were not as good.
