Burris FFII or Leupold Rifleman for 270 win

I have a Remington 700 BDL in 270 win and i am trying to decide on a scope. I will occasionally shoot to 350-400yds, my price range is $200, and I hunt whitetails. Should I get a Leupold rifleman in 3-9X or a VX-I in 3-9X. I was also thinking about a Simmons Aetec 4-12X but dont know about their quality. Right now i am leaning toward the Burris FulField II in 3-9x. IS the burris better than the leupolds. ANy help is appreciated.

The Simmons atec is definetly a great choice. I have had one for a number of years and it has performed perfectly.

Having said that my choice would definetly be the Burris FF2. It is by far the better of the three. Even though I have just learned they are assembled int he Philipines.[:o] They are fully multi coated, one piece tube, and a plethera of other features that I would prefer to have.

I have 2 Aetecs. They both have performed great. I'm 100% satisfied with them. The Leupold Rifleman is not even fully-multi coated, you can do better for your money. I have handled the Burris, it looks great. I'm just not a Burris fan. It just seems that everytime I'm looking for a $200 scope I find myself w/ an Aetec. You can actually get the 3.8-12X44 new for $150.

I would take a Fullfield over the Rifleman anyday. I would however visit the opticzone and look at a Nikon Monarch for 255 dollars and be done with it. AS fr differences the Rifleman has very ineffective if any coatings on the lenses and the Fullfield II is multicoated. The Nikon is very superior to both since it has better lense coatings and glass. The Burris Fullfields BTW are made in Japan.

I've got a Burris FFII w/ ballistic plex recticle on my BAR 30-06 and like it very much.

You mentioned occasionally shooting to 350-400yds. The Ballistic Plex recticle has hash marks for 200, 300, 400 & 500 Yds. You sight it at 100 yds and then use the appropriate hash mark when needed. Totally eliminates guesswork as to the amount of hold-over at various yardages.

I haven't got to test my gun at 300 & over, but sighted in at 100Yds, she is dead on at 200Yds using the first hashmark.

i wouldnt touch burris especially import stuff.i hear some good stuff about the aetec . do yourself a favor and look out for a used vari x ii leupold for less than 200$ or skip a couple trips to mc donalds and pick up a new vari x ii for like another 70$. youll be glad you did.leupolds are guaranteed for life no matter who owns it. the imports from burris youll get laughed at by burris if you can get someone on the phone. been there done that. i now sport all leupolds on my guns. i replaced my cheapo scopes slowly each year ands never looked back.
