Mounting a scope ?
 

Hello guys I have a ? How do you guys mount your scopes? what do you use for a degreaser? Do you use lock tight? I am mounting a scope on a M-1 Grand,and no matter what i have tryed after three or four times at the range it will not keep its ozero.The rifle has alot of recoil and i am using the B-Square mounting base,with a 3x9x40 Bushnell scope that has proven its self over and over on another rifle,so its not the scope .Any help would be great. I use alcohol to de-grease with, and I do use a little lock-tite. Try another scope just to see if it does the samething, It should'nt move the point of impact from the recoil, with or with out lock-tite. Also are your rings and bases aluminum or steel?

Thanks STRUT .My base&rings are aluminum,would this have any thing to do with the rifle keeping zero.When i do get it zeroed in i can shoot one inch groups consistently.Again Thanks for your time.

Hey Butch you're not using See thru's by any chance?.If so that's most likely where your trouble lies.I would get a steel base and decent rings.Get rid of the aluminum.It's is recommended to use a thread locker. Loc-Tite Blue #242. DO NOT USE THE Red Loc-Tite I believe it's #262.Only Loc-Tite the base screws. Don't Loc-Tite the rings themselves.Good luck getting your problem solved. Ruger Redhawk

Two things come to mind on your topic. First have you tried lapping the base rings?. Since you are sure that the scope is okay,and have secured bases as suggested on the other posts, I would try this.
Your scope probably has a 1inch barrel, so get a piece of 1inch cold roll and some lapping compound, a couple of passes would tell if the bases are running true to each other.
The second thing that comes to my mind are you shooting different ammo each time, but you probably know about that.

Yeah Butch get you a good set of steel bases and rings, they make several, Remember your scope is no better than what you have it attached to your gun with.
