HELP!
 

there is a black bear that is getting into every1's trash and i have small animals around if he comes after one i am afraid i would have to shot him what is better for a charging bear a 30-06 a 44mag a 357mag a 38special or a ar-15 ? he is about 250 to 300 pounds help fast!( not saying that i will just shot him but if he does come after children or animals) he has killed chickens

I think this is one people worry way too much about. We had black bears around where I grew up. But I have yet to know anyones children get hurt. Just an opinion. I think there is a total of 17 attacks from Black bears in the Eastern US from 1972 to 2002. I think your chances are pretty safe.

But 30-06 will definately do the job. Thats for sure. 38special's and ar's might be a tad small for the "attacking charging bear".

If the bear charges or attacks anything and only then, I'd go with the 30-06
