Gun Oil Info

You ever noticed most gun oils like hoppes, outers, and others mention about lubercation but nothing much about rust preventative. I wonder why that is? I mean there's not too many parts on a bolt thats needs lubing other than the trigger and bolt. Just thinking out loud. No never had too much trouble with rust in decades of owning guns using hoppes.

RE: Gun Oil Info

WHen done cleaning a barrel I use Butches Gun oil and I then spray Remoil on outside of the gun and wipe it down. That is it and I never worry about rust because it doesn't happen.

I've used Outers, FP-10, B-C Sheath, RemOil, and Militech, never had anything rust except a Rem 597 (more of a quality of the rifle problem than protectant problem. I just use Sheath mainly because it smells the best.:D

G-96 gun treatment is good as both a lubricant and rust inhibitor.

I just use the M-PRO7 CLP after cleaning with MP7 bore cleaner.
Works great.

COLD WEATHER Gun Oil Info

I read a recent military test results on gun oils used in Alaska's Artic cold, the Rem-Oil was an outstanding preformer according to the test results (I think the temps reached -30 degrees, if my memory is correct.) It wouldn't gum-up the action is it was really cold. Others oils were mentioned, but that was the one that sticks out in my mind, and the one I've used lately.

Tetra-Gun is another lube I use. Tetra-Gun's development was a direct result of NASA space program, or so I was informed by a gentleman who likes to look into those type of things.
