i had a 7mm weatherby it is a fine cartridge just not as popular as the rem mag.

The 7mmremmag is available in a wide variety of factory loads unlike the 7mmwbymag.If you don't reload this could be a big factor.

Why a 7mm mag for your wife? That's alot of gun, even for a guy. My husky nephew is trading his off for something just as leathal and a little bit more forgiving. And the comment above about the noise of a brake...no one needs it and everything that can be done to reduce/eliminate flinch should be done.
Weatherby still makes them. Try wallyworld or a good dealer. Also, try the website chuckhawks.com and see what he says about recoil/overkill/etc.

I own a few Weatherby's, and they all shoot under .75" @ 100m. Good luck.
