Cartridges sticking in chamber
of my new NEF Handirifle. Seemed to get better after a few shots but I am worried about ejection problems while hunting. Is there a do it yourself fix for this or do I need to make a trip to the gunsmith?
Thanks in advance. |
RE: Cartridges sticking in chamber
It could be something in your chamber, try cleaning it real good first, then theres also the possiblity that your extractor is malfunctioning. Does it only do it after firing a live round? I mean will it extract an empty reliably?

RE: Cartridges sticking in chamber
Is this after firing or before? Are you shooting reloads, if so you may need to case trim your brass.
If it is just a few thousands to long it will cause them to hang-up in the chamber, If you are shooting new ammo, I would try another brand, if that don't fix it then yes it is time for a smith to look at it. |
RE: Cartridges sticking in chamber
my 22 hornet did it once, had to drive it out,new gun, hope it dont do it again, after cleaning the chamber, who knows????

RE: Cartridges sticking in chamber
This is a brand new rifle. I am shooting factory loads. The extractor seem to be working as designed. Might have been too much lube in the chamber from the factory. I have not had a chance to get back to the range for another test firing. Thanks for your comments and ideas.

RE: Cartridges sticking in chamber
Well, I am not fimiluar this NEF's really, but if you shooting on hot days like Saturday here in Westminster, then the factory round could be hot loaded. Its not totally out of the question for a factory round to be loaded to hot to cause heavy bolt lift or sticking cartridges. Other explanations could be bad chamber job, dirty chamber, etc, etc.
