RE: JC Higgins model 50 question
Is your gun a bolt action shotgun? If so probably a H & R. What gauge? Is it a 20 gauge?....an if so, then it is probably a model 121 H & R made for Sears for the J.C. Higgins line name.
Sorry but i don't have a clue about it's manufacture date, but the link below shows a book that may interest you.

I use to own a JC Higgins Model 51, and I could shoot 1/3" groups with RL-19 along with a Hornady 180 gr. Innerlock bullet. I sent it to get the stock and metal restored, and one of UPS's employees stole the rifle which was left to me by my dad.
I have some information on my other computer I will try to get to you. The model 50 was totally made and assembled in Belgum at FN. The rifle should shoot very verywell. Good luck.

It was insured, but what gives a UPS employee the right to steal any thing from any customer. I hope no one ever steals any firearm from you. The money has nothing to do with it. I trusted UPS and I received the ________ end of the stick. My father's rifle was my prize possesion. Good luck
