One Savage may be more accurate than one Remington, but you make take another Savage and Remington and find just the opposite. Of the two I'd buy the Savage, but that's just my opinion.

For that $650.00 and under category, I'd take a look at the Tikkas. Tikka won't let a rifle leave the factory unless it will shoot a 1" group at 100 yards. I bought two this year and both are highly accurate.

When buying factory rifles there is no sure way to predict which one will be most accurate.I personally have hade the best luck with 700's.

Savage has a good rep for accuracy, BUT, Remington's quality control problems have not genreally been in the accuracy department. The M 721-722-725-700 series has been one of the most accurate bolt-action rifle designs ever put on the market.

99% of the time what makes a rifle accurate is the person pulling the trigger. Remington makes good rifles and would be my personal preference, but Savages have gotten good reviews also and each rifle on the assembly line will be different, in terms of accuracy, from the one next to it. There are lots of good quality rifles made in the price range your looking at so pick up and handle several and possibly shoot some different rifles, see what feels good to you.

Give the Tika a serious look, also in that price range I would look at the CZ's also.

Go with the best {Remington 700}. I have a lot of rifles come and go from my shop and Remington 700's are far the best. They have after market parts if you need them and any gunsmith will work on them. and if you decide to buy one and not like it, you can sell it and not loose a lot of money. Remingtons have the best resale value out there. Just my .02$........Ok guys lay on the heat.:}

Take a look at Browning A-Bolt Hunter $646.00, Howa Lightning Bolt-Action Rifle $505.00, Ruger M77 Mark II Rifle $649.00, and Winchester Model 70 Black Shadow $542.00. I think the rest have been mentioned go check them all out and make your decision on which action, trigger, weight, and stock feels best to you. You are going to be shooting it we aren't. Good luck.
