replacement trigger or adjusting a marlin?
 

is their any way to adjust or replace a a marlin trigger?

i have noticed that when i have decent groups with my marlin but they are 1" to the right. i know it has to be because of the 6lb trigger pull on these things. i don't want to compensate for it cause somtimes it does hit dead on.

Marlin triggers are a pain to adjust...I don't know of any gunsmiths that will touch them. I did my Marlin .22 a fews years back and the sear has to be &quot;honed&quot;...wasn't worth the trouble...<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

PaJak is right, concerning Marlin triggers. But, the trigger on Marlin lever actions is a straightforward engagement between the trigger nose and the hammer notch, so engagement depth can be reduced and the notch and nose can both be polished enough to make the trigger crisper. Just make sure you DON'T CHANGE THE ENGAGEMENT ANGLE BETWEEN THESE TWO PARTS!! There is no aftermarket replacement trigger for these rifles.

I would like to be able to adjust my Marlin's they are pretty darn accurate with a 6lb trigger, imagine if we could get them to 2 or 3 lbs.

However my Marlin MR7 is adjustable, its like a model 70 trigger.

Mine is pretty good the way it is for a hunting rifle and I doubt I ever use it for game over a 100 yards . Quill even 1 inch to the right at a 100 yards would only be 2 inches at 200 yards which is about it for that gun . How small is the game your hunting .

the smallest game i hunt is deer.

my buddy owns a marlin 336C circa 50's rifle. the trigger is gold like that of a browning a-bolt. but his trigger is lighter than mine.

I have a marlin model 25 in a .22 cal rimfire. The trigger on it was very very stiff. I had a gunsmith adjust it for me and he got it down to 3.6 lbs. He said he had to do something to the seer to get it lower. If you do get it worked on, be careful to check if there are any accidental misfires. The first time I went to pick up my gun, he handed it to me and it seemed fine when you cycled the bolt quickly. However, when I cycled the bolt slowly, it would FIRE! So I gave it back to him and he said that he filed to much off of the seer, and he tried again. The second time it came out great, it feels good, no creep and a lot easier to pull the trigger. The gun is a shooter.

Quilly.. On the Marlin 25n {22} You can take a lot of the trigger pull weight just by simply replacing the main trigger spring with a weaker spring. You can use a pen spring but make shure you cut it about 2 turns longer than the original spring. The other thing to do is to take a dremmel tool and grind down the front of the engagement surfaces on the trigger and sear, this gives your trigger a shorter distance to travel to disengage. Be shure to do a little at a time, because if you get to grind happy your trigger will not set all the time or could possibly go off when you set the bolt or flip off the safty. These steps will take your trigger from factory set 6lbs to 2lbs. Once you get done, be shure to use a fine stone or file to get rid of any burs that might occur durring the dremmel prosses. If your going to use the gun for target shooting or just plinking these steps will really help trigger and gun performance, but if you want a lighter trigger for hunting small game in the woods just try changing the spring. i think i read somewhere on the marlin forum that timney was making a trigger for the 1895GG's. i could be wrong tho but i know i read something somewhere :)

it is not bad for the distances i use it in for now. i am just surprised with all these marlins being sold, people have not emailed or mailed letters to timmney to come out with one.
ever since 1shot_1kill put that timney in my F.M sporter in 35 whelen it is even better than my browning medallion.
