I finally got my new baby!

I finally got enough saved up to buy my new Ruger M77 MkII laminate, stainless in 300 WM. What a beautiful rifle! I can't wait to take her to the range and see what she'll do! Now I just have to keep it hid from the Mrs., what she doesn't know doesn't hurt me.

You might want to get a trigger job...mine came with a pull of 5-1/2 lbs...

I love my Ruger M77 but the factory trigger does need some work. Ruger needs something like the Savage accu-trigger.....that would be a great rifle.

Just dry firing it, the trigger weight doesn't seem all that bad. However, it does have some creep to it. I'm saving up to put some good glass on it, then I'll look at getting the trigger done. If it shoots good as is, I may not even worry about the trigger. I've gotten used to crappy triggers.

Get a Timney trigger for it . I have tried having the Trigger done on 2 of these guns and they were ok after the work by 2 different gunsmiths. The Timney feels like a completely different trigger probably because the sear is replaced as well.

You bought a fine rifle. As far as the trigger goes they can be cleaned up nicely. If you don't know how to do it take it to a competent smith. Most of my M-77's break at 3-3.5#'s.I don't like them any lighter for a hunting rifle.I think you'll be satisfied with the accuracy. You might have to try a couple different loads. My M-77 in 7mm RM didn't like the Federal 130gr Premium Ballistic Tips.I tried of all things Remington 150gr CoreLokts and it grouped about 1-1.5"@100 yards. Good enough for a hunting rifle as far as I'm concerned. If you handload you should be able to work up a accurate load.

On second thought don't make to accurate a load until the wife knows you have this rifle. If she finds it you won't have a sporting chance getting away.
