lol bt you said the magic word... KIMBER!

You will have to spend TWICE the money (Wilson Combat etc) to get anything more accurate.

GREAT gun,

Kimber would be my choice in your price range... They are known to be extremely accurate for the price... Mine is more accurate than I can ever be:)... It is a team match.

By the way, my friend whom shoots .45's competetively has many Kimbers, granted they aren't what he shoots for his centerfire pistol (an old heavily modified colt), it says something about their quality.

I'd also have to suggest the Kimber. I'm also currently looking at the Eclipse Target II, but the Sig Granite Series Rail(GSR) that Briman suggested has gotten me interested in them also. Briman, do you have one of these? If so, give me the low down on it. Thanks.

The only factory guns I've been really pleased with have been Kimber and Springfield. I've also got a Wilson Combat and a Dan Wesson, but they're custom guns, I'm assuming you aren't prepared to pay that much before you know you'll like the games. I've got four springers and two kimbers right now, besides a Wilson Combat, Danny Dub, and a Balister Molina import (likely the best 1911 for the money of all time-as good of quality as a springer GI but for $150), I use the custom guns for games, but I always look forward to local "production" class shoots where my springers and kimbers can shine.

The accuracy of a Kimber or ANY production 1911 can't compare with that of the custom guns available today, but they're as good as it gets from factory firearms. Kimbers are very impressive, Springers are just as good in accuracy, you'd be well served by either.

If you want to start off with what you'll likely end up with, custom guns are well worth the money. The gun will out perform you for quite a while, but when you catch up, you'll NEED a custom gun to keep up in these games, but $2K is a pretty big investment in a sport you're not certain you're going to keep doing.
