The late Jack O'Connor said the 35 Rem. would handle all NA Game,a little lite for The Big Moose and the Big Bears, but would work.
I think I would opt for a little more power,30-06 or so.
If looking for a lever action I would look at the 450 Marlin or the 45-70 Govt. or .444 Marlin

RE: 35 rem

Going after moose the only round I would consider useing is the 220 grain offering from Corbon. It's a 220 grain jacketed flat nose at 2200 fps.

The limited ammount of other offerings is loaded to pretty weak pressures and velocities.

I have both a .35 Remington and a .450 Marlin both in Marlin lever actions. For something as large as moose I would probably use the .450.

I have 2 older 35's Rem. 141 pump and Rem. 760 pump, they're great for deer, hogs and blk. bear. Will it harvest a Moose yes but you need to get up 150 yards for these old punkin chunkers to do thier best work. You would be better off with a cartridge that shoots flatter with good bullets. 6.5x55- 270- 06- any mags, if recoil doesn't bother you.[&:]

I have used both the 30-30 and 35 Remington as well as the 32 Win. Special for moose. This was only from tree stand hunts though where the range was never more than 30-40 yards and often even closer. I had a moose walk right under my tree stand. It would have been a 10 foot shot. BUT!!! I only had a bear tag that time.[:o] At close range I would say yes but past 75-100 yards it would be a little iffy. This unless you were very sure that you could place the shot perfectly.
