What kinda shape is the rifle in? In excellent condition it is rated at $1050, very good condition only $700. Never owned an Armalite but I have seen a few shooters use them, they seemed happy. To compare a Bushmaster of about the same make retains a little higher resale value, they say about $1000 for VG condition.

Go to a gunshow, you'll find one NEW for that price or less. I bought a Bushy last year and a new Army AR-15 this year for $695 and $755 respectively in A4 configuration. I bought a Bushy Varminter with stainless bbl for $900.

The problem with "blue book" values is that it's usually hard to find someone to give you that price. "Blue book" values can be looked at a lot like MSRP values....for example, I just bought a new Ruger Vaquero .44mag, MSRP is $555, I bought mine for $395...the blue book is pretty much the MOST you should ever think about paying for something, to give you an idea of the depreciation on a gun. I personally wouldn't buy the Army for $899 unless it came with a WHOLE lot of accessories, say about $200 worth!!!

Nomercy, I agree with you about the book value, I was only trying to give a general idea of value. The Armalite m15a4 is more or less setup close to your Bushmaster Varminter, it has a 20" stainless barrel, national match 2 stage trigger group, flat-top recvr. with weaver rail, the MSRP on it is $1383, a little more $$$ to start. So we may pay $1100 to buy it new. At this point for the money I would go buy the Bushmaster. But grumpy may not be getting a bad deal here, those C-more sights can approach $300. I would say it depends on condition and how bad he really wants the c-more sight. As far as quality I think they are in the same ballpark.

My friend has the bushmaster varmint AR and loves it... I have the Rock River Arms AR and love it. I would say the fit/finish between them is comparable, but the RRA is cheaper and comes with an accuracy guarantee of 3/4 moa at 100 yards.
