QUESTION ABOUT REMINGTON 700 SS

I just bought a REMINGTON 700 SS 300 SAUM for $459.00, I thought what a great deal,
I am now seeing alot more of them being offered for around the same price. Is Remington pulling this caliber? Is there something I should know about?

THANKS

The 300 SAUM cartridge is not selling well and it's days are probably coming to an end very soon.

RE: QUESTION ABOUT REMINGTON 700 SS

Someone in this forum pointed this out before, many new cartridges have been introduced in the past few years, esp. the new short/fat variety. Not all of those cartridges will see the end of the decade. Seems like the 300 WSM is putting a dent in the 300 SAUM in my opinion.

RE: QUESTION ABOUT REMINGTON 700 SS

For 05 yes, Remington is dropping the SAUMs from their lineup. They are picking up the .270 and .300 WSM. The big ultras will still be offered. I dont know about their ammo selection being continued for any of the Ultra/SAUMs. But its obvious that they are strangling their own throats with the Ultras by offering a rather bland and limited selection of ammo. I doubt they would completely drop the SAUM from their ammo offerings, but stranger things have happened.

If nothing else, if you are a typical big game hunter and shoot only 1 maybe 2 boxes of ammo per year, then buy a few hundred pieces of brass and you will be good for life. If not then consider having the gun re-barreled for the .300WSM. The WSMs have taken off faster than anything in the gun industry within the last 20 years. They are constantly offering new loads and the sky is the limit for their options.

Good luck,
RA

RE: QUESTION ABOUT REMINGTON 700 SS

Thank you for the info, I bought 6 boxes of REMINGTON 180 GR Partitions on GUN BROKER, that should hold me for a few seasons. After that I will check ammo availability, if I do not like what they have------------300 WSM it will be

THANKS AGAIN
