Need Help With Scope!!!
 

I'm shooting a 6/284 my Father built this rifle in 1966, he also put a Weaver scope on it same year, the scope is outdated for the rifle.

I'm looking to upgrade, I have 2 scopes in mind, would y'all please give me any expericances or info on the Nikon 3.5X10X50 Monarch,or the Leupold 3.5X10X50 Vari-X 111 scopes.

the Leupold Vari-X III are exspensive but you get what you pay for . I purchased a 6.5x20x50 Vari-X III and will never buy anything except leupold from here on in.
not familiar with nikon but the clearity of the leupold just blew me away

My rule of thumb is never buy a scope that you havn't looked though. I bought a Leupold Vari-XIII.

These are my plans, there is a gun shop in my aera that has scopes mounted on stocks for the reason of checking them out, also would like to bring the rifle in to see if I would have to change mounts, going from a 40 to a 50, some hunters say they had to go to a raised mount to do so. I'm not ruleing anything out might try 42, 44 or stay with a 40, if that's the case. Thanks for the help!! keep the sugestions comming.

I personally like a 40. It just seems normal to me. It also keeps the crosshairs closer to the barrel, which in my experiences has only helped accuracy.
