Advice on in between caliber
I currently own a remington 700 7mm-08 and a weatherby 300 wby mag. I am looking for a good caliber to fill the gap that will be primarily used as a whitetail rifle. this rifle will see shots from 50 - 400 yards down shooting lanes. i want a flat shooting caliber capable of killing deer in the 230 lb range. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey why not a 270 Wby or 270 wsm???

RE: Advice on in between caliber
Another vote for the 270Win, 270WSM or maybe the 270 Wby.;)

Actually I am gonna throw another into the mix, .264 Win Mag!

270Win., 270WSM, or, and my pick would be, the 7mmRem.Mag.

Personally I don't see too much of a gap there.
But I'd also vote for the .270 or .270WSM. Maybe even the 25-06 |
RE: Advice on in between caliber
.270 Win
If you only use these guns for whitetails, theres hardly a gap. |
RE: Advice on in between caliber
What gap? The 7mm-08 will do anything you want it to on a whitetail.

There isn't much of a gap. If you just want to get another rifle admit it LOL. The 7mm RM could slip in nicely.

RE: Advice on in between caliber
lol, I have to agree... what gap? If you need a gun to shoot 400yds and already have a 300Wby, why do you need anything else? The 7/08 likewise will take em within 300yds with ease.
Now if you just want another gun, why not a 270/280 or 7mag? RA |
