Mossberg Model 88 Maverick
 

Anyone own one of these? I just won one in a raffle and im going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon from what ive seen online it basiclly just appears to be a cheaper version of a mossberg 500 but very similar. But ive never owned one and dont know anyone who does so Im turning to ya`ll, anyone got one? if so what do you think of it?

Yes just a cheapened up 500 .
1 forearm bar ,not the 2 on a 500
a crossbolt safty not the tang safty ( I like cross bolt saftys)
shorter forearms than the 500
most that I have seen are fixed choke
Not a bad gun just plain,you just don't have a 500 BUT it's almost free

I got one as my first gun. Yes, just a cheap version of the 500. any mossberg 500 barrel will fit it, so you can change them out if you want. mine has a fixed modified choke. although i haven't fired it in years, it sure took a lot of rabbits when it was all I had.
