RE: Barrel break-in...fact or fiction???
Just a follow up...I started the procedure this afternoon about 5 pm. My initial cleaning brought forth patches that looked a very bright turqouise green (before firing). To make a long story short I would fire 1 round on a very clean barrel (using Butch's Bore Shine). At round 6 (about 2 hours later) there wasn't really any blue just powder fouling and cleaning was reduced from about 15-20 patches down to about 5. I have to say something is definitely going on, for the better I'm sure. I'll start with 3 shot groups (as per Big country) and try it there for 2 or 3 firings. My other Brownings clean very quickly as well. My Rem 700 .243 win (2 months old) still fouls very badly after many cleanings. I went through about 3 sessions today with it and no improvement, although it does shoot OK.
Thanks for the info guys... |
