So what was your point of resurrecting a post that old? There are plenty of freshs threads to comment on.

Elk and moose are two entirely different animals, a bull moose can weight around a ton. If you have never seen one you do not know how big they are.

My experience with the 7mm-08 is amazing. I was done with recoil years ago. Many many outfitters frowned upon the .243. Not that they wouldn't let me use a .243. They just heavily frowned upon it, and said "I prefer you use something bigger". "I highly recommend you do not bring a .243". This is after witnessing a .243 destroy deer. But I didn't want to go against a guide.

Eventually I came upon the 7mm-08. Yes the recoil is more than the .243. But I offset the recoil with a semi-auto action.

Since then... taken a few deer. Then I took a Bear & Elk with the 7mm-08. Coupled with a Nosler Partition, the 7mm-08 does massive destruction. Lungs just implode. Hearts are turned in shreds. I don't know how these animals run 25 yards, but they do, & crash hard.

The only thing I don't like is the exit hole. It's small, because only the base of the partition exits. So there isn't a nice blood trail.

Otherwise it's a great round for hunting much of anything in the USA.
