Accuracy out of a revolver is tricky... You have to make sure that each chamber lines up perfectly and they seldolmly do... But for hunting anything 6" or over should be fine. If you like the TC I would say to go with that, it keeps your options open for later and has the ability to be slightly more accurate. I think Savage makes a bolt single shot handgun which is supposedly very accurate as well

No question here. If you have the money get a freedom model 83 454 or 475. Second best would be a ruger blackhawk 44 or 45.

Im not fond of the encore due to the size. With a 15 inch barrel, the encore is almost as big as a rifle carbine.

RE: revolver vs T/C Encore

I have revolvers and a T/C Contender and Encore. The revolver gives you 5 or 6 shots ( never needed more than 2) and it balances better than either T/C with or with/out a scope for off hand shooting. I have a Ruger Redhawlk in 44 mag with a red dot and a Ruger Super Redhawlk in 454 with a red dot.
The T/C's only give you 1 shot but they are a little more accurate and I normaly need only the 1 shot. The Encore can be had in many pistol and rifle cal so it can be more than a 1 season gun ,just change barrels and go chuck or yote hunting. I have 15+ barrels for the Contender ,I use the 44mag for deer. The Encore I have a 308 barrel and a 375JDJ.
Any of the cal. and guns will do every thing you have listed, now its up to you to chose.
I tryed a S&W 500 its to big and heavey ,to much boom,to much $ per shot for my liking

RE: revolver vs T/C Encore

It really depends on how long of a shot you'll be taking. If your shots will be in the neighborhood of 100yds, a revolver will do just fine in the calibers you mentioned. But for longer shots, a T/C or the Striker from Savage in a rifle caliber will be the better choice. When I first got into pistol hunting, I bought a Ruger in 44mag because the place I hunted never offered a shot over 100yds. But, I've since gone to another spot where shots can be in excess of 200yds, so I went with the T/C's. I've still got a T/C Contender in 44mag for the shorter shots, but also have an Encore in 308 for when I need to stretch it out a little. Like I said, it all depends on the terrain you'll be hunting.
