Which choke for buckshot?

Opening day tommorow, running deer dogs, Shooting Benelli with 3 1/2 # 1 buck. Which choke should I use?

Whichever one patterns the best. More than likely modified or IC. A little late to be asking now, you should have already patterned your gun.

I thought with buckshot you want a full choke... with slugs you want the most open choke you got!

A few years back I did alot of testing with my Browning B-80...Shot Federal, Winchester Supreme and Remington...00 Buck and #1..In 3 inch Mag...best choke in MY gun was Improved...with either Federal or Winchester...would put 4-5 00 pellets into 8 1/2 x 11 paper (turned horizontal) at 40 yards...Full choke was worst..scattered and opened pattern....You have to pattern buckshot...Just like turkey loads and sighting in rifle with different loads...Good Luck

No, the tighter constriction tends to deform the shot and cause erratic patterns.
