Shooting sabots with a rifled choke...
Hey,
I am thinking about getting a rifled choke for my smoothbore barrel. I was just wondering how much accuracy I would gain by shooting sabots with a rifled choke, instead of fosters with an improved cyl. choke. Thanks, Chris |

IMO, not much. With situation like this, you limiting factor is usually the bead on the smooth barrel. Not good for pinpointing. but if you have rifle sights, you could see a significant difference or none at all. I tried this, and I was hitting a paper plate at 50 yards with rem sluggers and modified choke. Then tried the screw in and copper solids, and was still hitting the plate. Nothing earth shattering.

Guess it depends on how you're doing now. If you don't have rifle sights or a scope, and you are getting hunting accuracy now, I wouldn't spend the extra money on a rifled choke and sabots.
