.240 WBY MAG INFO NEEDED!!!!!!!
[&:] I have question concerning my .240 wby mag. I am currently using the 100 grain partition and then switched to the 95 gr Ballistic tip for deer. I am getting good results on the bench and shot a 290lb 8 pt in Michigan last fall and it ran 30 yards.
I am planning a trip to Nebraska next year and was looking at the long range potential of this caliber and also wondering if anyone has used the Barnes XLC 87 gr bullet and if you did what were the results and would you recommmend it for whitetail hunting and what load did you use? THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS OUR TROOOPS!! |
RE: .240 WBY MAG INFO NEEDED!!!!!!!
I have had a 240 Wby. for many years, and time has proven "to me at least", it needs a tough bullet to stay together on big game, so i use 100 grain Nosler partitions.
Personally, i'd not use a lighter or non premium bullet in this round!! Drilling Man |

I have a T/C Encore in the .240 Weatherby and the 100gr. Nosler Partition seems to be the best bullet for that caliber...;)

I will try the Partition again. I used the partition on a few deer and it just passed right through and the deer ran for 70 or 80 yards. Will try again though. Thanks

RE: .240 WBY MAG INFO NEEDED!!!!!!!
I used the partition on a few deer and it just passed right through and the deer ran for 70 or 80 yards. That's the BEST part, they expand easily, yet drive on through for a good exit hole to bleed out of!! Also, they will penetrate deep, or on through, on "rakeing shots" too. HUGE advantage there!
