None of the above! For only deer and hogs my choice would be the 25.06:D

The 7mm-08 is good, but selection of factory ammo not as
great.
That is a valid point, however there is not a deer or hog in the southeast that can withstand a hit from a 140 grain Nosler Partition. Federal loads them in their premium line for the 7mm-08 Rem. In a light rifle the 7mm-08 Rem has less recoil than a 308 Win. If you don't believe me get yourself a torn rotator cuff and try them both. I love the 308 Win and own two of them, but I constantly see people on this board selling the 7mm-08 Rem short.

If your hunting the southeast you need something to reach out across a right of way, large field. I would say the top 3 7REm mag,270wsm or 270win. I hunt an area in Alabama where 300 yard + shots are always a possibility and longer if you want.

Also a fan of the 25.06 but any of the mentioned calibers will do the trick. If you think that there is a possibility that you may what to hunt something bigger(ie:moose or elk) in the future than I would pick either the .308 or 30.06. Also if you are in some out of the way area(oops I forgot my ammo or can't believe I missed all 20 times) some of the mentioned calibers may be hard to find.

Best Wishes

the 30-06 or 7rem mag. plentiful ammo, tons of factory loads, tons of bullets, weights, ect..... then if you want to go after some bigger game down the road your good to go.
