Legal to hunt with a .22 in Indiana?

Hey,
I was just wondering if hunting with a .22 is legal in Indiana. I was thinking of buying a Ruger 10/22 for squirrel, rabbit, and other small game. I know that you can not use rifles for deer, so I was thinking it would imply for other game as well.
Is it legal?
Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to the forum Outdrsman, My suggestion is check with your state's DNR or Game Commission. That way you get the information first hand. My brother lives in Indiana and I know you are correct you can't use rifle for deer hunting.I would imagine for small game a 22 is legal. Check with your State's authorities to findout for sure.

Yes a 22 is leagal in Indiana. You can use any type of rifle to hunt anything in indiana except for deer. Which is stupid because you can go buy a contender and put any barrel on it you want and hunt deer, but you cant use a rifle. Contradics itself don't it.

Yeh that is pretty stupid. I dont see how they came up with that law. Although theres nothing else you can really use a larger caliber rifle on in Indiana. Deer is the biggest game.
Thanks for your reply. . .

In ohio the law states that you can only use a handgun with a straight sided cartridge (like a .44 mag, .500 S&W, etc.) So you can't use a .308 contender. It might be the same in Indiana.
