I have a remington 710 and I wanted to know what yall thought about the performance of it? For the price, I think it was a great deal. BB

RE: Remington 710?
There's a big discussion on the Remington 710 in the Gun Review forum:

RE: Remington 710?
I think you could have got a much better gun at a comparable price in a Savage or Howa. 710's are crap and aren't built to last. Nothing but a disposable gun built to lure neophytes that know little to nothing of firearms.

RE: Remington 710?
I don't like the 710,but if your happy,enjoy...;)

RE: Remington 710?
I had a 710 for six weeks and it was the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned, I got rid of it quick.

RE: Remington 710?
If you are happy with it and can hit your mark, then it's a good gun. Not my choice, but you ain't me. .....Now I have to get a dictionary and find out what a Neophyte is.

RE: Remington 710?
710 is a bad choice. You can get a Weatherby Vanguard or a Savage for the same price and they are better guns. My opinion : Hate it and would never buy a "Value" gun. A gun is something you keep along time, get something upper end.

RE: Remington 710?
I noticed recently that both Dick's and Bass Pro had both the Rem. 710 package and the Savage 111 clip package on sale. Of course they both came complete with mounted up scopes. The Savage was $20 cheaper. The Savage takes it hands down as far as I'm concerned. The fact that you can get about twice as much rifle for $20 less makes me wonder why anyone would even consider the Rem. 710. [X(]:([8D]

If you have one,it is the best gun for you!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it shoots where you aim,it is a good gun for you ! You will do just fine with it!
Shoot a deer or what ever you hunt, with it and post the pictures! You can do it ! I'll be waitng to see them ? |
RE: Remington 710?
Its definatly not a gun you want to take to the range every week, but for 80% of the hunters that sight the gun in once a year, and then take one maybe two shots a year on deer, it works perfect.

RE: Remington 710?
Oh Yes another Remington 710 question. The 710 has gained more attention then probably any other gun here.Unfortunately on the negitive side. Now this is my opinion and take it for whatever it's worth. The 710 is one of the worst rifles I have ever looked at or handled.Do yourself a favor if you want to keep in the lower price range get yourself a Savage.A much better gun then the 710. If you want to get a Remington get the model 700. I like the Ruger M-77's but they are a bit more expensive. I think if you do get the 710 you'll end up regretting it.

JagMagMan, I stand corrected. There has been allot of talk about the Rem 597 also. When the 710 came up again I never thought about the POS 597.Remington needs to get their act together. They sure have turned out allot of garbage over the last several years.Maybe for someone as mentioned with a 710 who's only shooting it a few times a year it might be an acceptable rifle.I still wouldn't own one. Not when I could get a Savage for the same money or a Rem 700 ADL.I don't have this decision to make. When I want a New B/A it's almost always a Ruger M-77.I have other B/A's but I like my Ruger's the best.I did buy a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in 7mm RM. last year which I still haven't tried out.I'm impressed with it's craftsmanship of it,the range will make the final impression. Savage would have been far better choice for the $$$
