RE: Anything wrong with them?

I had a 3-9 Simmons on a 223. I'll not have another if that tells you my opinion of them.

Maybe I just had a bad one. It wasn't clear and was one of the few scopes that I've ever had that lost it's zero frequently.

I can't remember which model it was.

Depends on the model

RE: Anything wrong with them?

I had a simmons 8 point on one of my .22's and had no complaints about it except that the shots could vary by 1/2 inch at 50 yards by the way I held my head on the stock. For a $50 scope its plenty good for plinking and small game hunting, but I personally would put something better on a rifle for big game.
My brother in law has an older simmons on his 7400 that he uses for deer hunting that he doesn't seem to have any problems with though.

I have used Simmons on my 300 for 9 or 10 years and have never had a problem. Just bought an Simmons Aetec to replace the Leupold on my 220 swift.

RE: Anything wrong with them?

I currently own two Simmons scopes and cannot complain in the least. You get what you pay for in optics,so if you pay $50,you get a $50 scope.A Leupold does not run for $50,so why compare it to a bottom line Simmons?? I also recently purchased the Aetec and have no regrets in doing so.By the way,EVERY manufacturer has its lemons,I have heard of problems with Nikon,Weaver,Redfield and yes..even Leupold! In every case, its been a defect in assembly..not an inheirent problem with the product.

RE: Anything wrong with them?

my brother has one sitting on his rem700ML and with 150gr charges it still holds its zero. i dont know if i would put them on a magnum or any other heavy recoiling rifle. on a .22 really the recoil it experiences is about as much as sitting on the store shelf.

XTP is right. There are good Simmons scopes, and they are priced accordingly. There are also some which ain't so good!!
