RE: 22 magnum?

I owned an H&K .22 mag at one time and still kick myself for getting rid of it they are a bit pricey and hard to come by but well worth it but for deer I'd follow the advice from above and go with a .243

Any .22 cal on deer sized game is unwise and in many opinions unethical.

I agree Frizz...a 22mag is definitely an "unethical" deer gun. Sure, many have been taken with this caliber...but how many have been wounded or died unfound?

Go with a 243...

Broncos7, you didn't say WHAT your daughter is proposing to hunt. It seems everyone assumed she is going deer hunting. If so, then no rimfire is adequate, whether it is called MAGNUM or not!! If she's going for deer, then a centerfire in .24 caliber or larger would be a better bet.

RE: 22 magnum?

broncos7, part of the "kick" that may be bothering her is not actually the recoil, but the muzzle blast. You might want to make sure she has some good hearing protection.
