Browning
Hello everyone,
Sometime this week I have to pick up my new rifle. I bought a Browning A-Bolt Medallion edition. I have never used or fired a Browning before, any opinions, suggestions on them? |
RE: Browning
I have the A-Bolt light weight composite Stalker in 308. The trigger is a bit on the heavy side but it is adjustable. I think I will have a gunsmith do it as I have been told that there is some kind of mechanism that you have to override to adjust them the first time. Maybe someone here knows how its done. The rifle is a good shooter. I shot four three shot groups with it today to be sure it is Zeroed for deer season. My best group was 3/4 inch and the biggest was 1.3 inches. I was shooting Nosler Partitions that I reloaded in 150 grain. I am happy with it. It shoots well no matter what I shoot in it.

RE: Browning
I owned a few brownings and they are quite good. It will take a couple of ammo boxes to settle down the trigger but after that it will work great.
I think you just make a very good purchase and aquired a great value for the money. Just my 2 cents |
RE: Browning
I knew the price of this particular gun before I bought it. When I went to look at it the dealer gave it to me for his cost, 200 dollars less than list price. One thing I did read about browning was that I needed to fire two rounds clean the gun and do this for a total of 10 rounds before sighting it in to break the barrel in. I dont know much about breaking it in like this but hey I love to shoot so thats ok for me.

RE: Browning
I own an a-bolt in 7mm-08, it has become my deer hunting rifle. I like the way it is balanced and I really like the bolt angle, I don't think there is another rifle with that small of an angle?
Anyway, the trigger is decent enough for me and the accuracy is good (I would not consider mine a tack driver). My one major problem is that the magazine hinge plate sticks out way more than necessary, if you go to brownings web site they even touch the photos up so it doesn't look so bad, no real big deal though. Just so typical in todays world, if you have a problem, hide it instead of simply fixing it. Enough rant... I do really enjoy my a-bolt. |
RE: Browning
IMHO you picked up a great gun. I love brownings they are finished great, and they shoot great. there only problem is, when ordering a gun it take several months to get it in. i had to wait 5 months to get my browning BPS in. its because they make a couple large shipments a year and thats it. I just wish they would hurry up and make a bolt action 17hmr.

RE: Browning
I got a .270 Winchester Abolt Medallion a year ago and i Love the gun. The trigger is damn good for out of the factory a crisp creep free 4 lbs. Slightly heavyer than I like buts its fine and can be adjustable. I have no problem with the magazine hingeplate at all. It just dont bother me and is a realy minute thing if you ask me. My gun like the Federal 130Gr. Barnes XLC X-Bullet. I topped mine with a Leupold VxI 3-9x40 Matte. A++
