I need help choosing a rifle!
I need help. i want a .22-250 but i need a Left-hand and i'm finding it difficult to find one that is suited for varmint hunting that has relatively nice looks. I really like the browning Micro-Hunter but someone told me that the 20inch barrel is no good for the .22-250.
ANY suggestions are most wlecome. |
RE: I need help choosing a rifle!
You did say ANY suggestions:
Try on a NEF/H&R 1871 single shot heavy bbl, they're really cheap, but probably as well made as anything out there. The way they break, they're as easy to break lefty as they are righty...I shoot a Buffalo Classic .45-70 left handed quite a bit (even though I'm really right handed, it's good to be proficient both ways). Once you get used to shooting it, you'll likely find it as accurate as any factory heavy bbl bolt gun out there, I know mine are!!! Typically .22-250's come in a little longer bbl than 20", I'd say no more than 26" however. I've got a 22" standard bbl, 24" heavy bbl, and 26" heavy bbl, the velocity change between the 24 and 26 isn't much, and the distance between the 22 and 24 isn't THAT much bigger, but there's quite a difference between the 22 and 26. |
RE: I need help choosing a rifle!
nomercy is right, I have a H&R Ultra rifle in .223 with a bull barrel. Man can that thing shoot. The metal work is as ugly as sin. Looks like it was fininshed with a file. But I don't care. It will shoot 1/2" groups all day long.
As for the Browning Micro Hunter LH. I have one in 7-08 and I love it. In fact, its going along with me on Sat. out to WY where I plan on using it to harvest an antelope and mulie. |

RE: I need help choosing a rifle!
I would give the T/C Encore a look. Doesn't matter if your right or left handed unless you get a thumbhole stock. I have a 24" 22-250 barrel on my encore and use it for predator hunting. I also have a 30/06, 45/70, and 209x50 barrels. I know a few lefty's that shoot encores.

RE: I need help choosing a rifle!
Try a RUGER #1. beautiful gun, any caliber you want. the only thing I've ever had to do to one to get it to shoot was remove the forestock, place a piece of credit card over the bolt and reassemble.
