5th Caliber opinion: The .22 rimfires.

Lets face it. The .22lr is the rifle. Most people out there will spend a thousand dollars on a rifle, then at least five hundred on a scope. They will then fire that rifle a dozen times a year getting ready for hunting season. Then that same person will buy a hundred dollar .22 rifle, an a twenty five dollar scope and call it done. If your like me, you'll fire tens of thousands of rounds through your .22 every year. Without the .22, where would we have got our shooting beginnings? I love the .22, how 'bout you?

I have far more 22's than any other caliber, other than my military collection. A 22 was probably the first rifle I ever shot and unless I die young, it will probably be the last caliber I can handle in old age. I was looking through my 22's the other day, 40X's, 52 Winchester, Anschutzs, Sakos, Kimbers, CZ's, and on and on. I love them all!

i always thought that if i could only have 2 guns one would be a 22. i shoot 22's all the time. weither i am shooting paper or squirrels i really like the 22. i think you will find the more accurate 22 you have and a good quilaty 22 is more fun then any other rifle. and you don't need to spend much over $150 to get a great 22 with a scope

Its the most used caliber on earth and the last one most people could do without. It puts lots of food on the table.

You did say .22 rimfire, and obviously most folk think of the .22LR, and it's probably the
most used, most underated/unappreciated little cartridge ever was. Can't imagine not having my Ruger 10/22 (with Leupold 4x scope). Lot's of fun.
BUT, after a long absence, I got me another .22Magnum Rimfire. It's a Ruger 77/22 with
the lam. stock, target grey stainless hvy. barrel, and I put a Leupold 3-9x compact scope on her. What a rifle! What a cartridge! Not too expensive for some plinking,
and much better for use on crows, etc. Accurate too - cover 9shots with a dime at
50yds. :D

the 22lr is the best training tool out there for practiceing marksmanship. You can shoot 1000rds and not even get a bump from it. Dirt cheap also.

I also really like the 22 rim fires a LOT. It sure is great to beable to shoot so much, so cheaply, and NOT have to reload it to do so!!!

Lately i've been shooting my LH Remington 541-S with a 2x6 Williams scope, and it's a joy to shoot something so accurate and fun to shoot!!

For pest control, i need a bit more power because of the possible longer ranges, so it's my 597M with a 7.5X scope that gets the most use.

I couldn't live with out a few good rim fires around!!!
