Right now, I would have to lean towards the ruger 10/22, Comparing apples to apples and prices and such, I think it's still the best deal out there. Like I heard ol' Roger Raglin say a few weeks ago " Buy quality once and save yourself money in the long run" I tend to agree. That is, if you want to purchase one that you can hunt with, and have fun plinking with. If you wanted to get fancy there are some high-end bolt actions out there.

Marlin tube mag is very afordable and a good rifle overall.

I had it for about 10 years now ,, it took some beating and abuse but still shoots very well.
And i beleive its still around $120-150

i like teh Ruger 10/22 its very accurate, reliable and fun to shoot. plus if you cent bord you can always trick it out. i havent done anything to mine, and ill hit gopher at 50-60 yards head shots with a 4x scope. i havnet had any futher shots then that, that is i havnt seen any gophers further then that when ive had that gun out.

The CZ rifles will generally be more accurate than any of the other rifles mentioned. The price is hard to beat as well.

try one of the old remington nylons they are superbly accurate and are so light that they are a dream to carry.

I have an old Ruger 10/22, and it does function and shoot pretty good, BUT i just hate the way it feels like a "beached whale" in my hands!!! It's so fat because of the square box magazine they have. It may not bother some one else, but it does me!!

I also have a Remington 552 semi auto, and it's been just as reliable and is just as good of a rifle (if not better) than the 10/22. It's easy to carry, and it works well for a left OR right hand shooter.

Personally, i like a bolt action for my 22, and it's hard to beat the Remington 581 for a very good shooting cheaper bolt action 22. Too bad you have to buy a used one to get one these days!!

I target shoot indoors with a Mossberg .22 semi-automatic and find it to be pretty accurate. I can group 50 rounds in the same 2cm area at 100ft.
