Slug gun scope

We've been using fixed 4X scopes on our dedicated slug guns. Accuracy is exceptional.
However at times I feel I might have made a better choice if I had gone with fixed 2X when I'm in "closer quarters", in fact, when I am in the thicker woods I usually grab a 12 gauge pump I have with rifled sights because the 4X's magnification makes getting on target quickly a little more difficult.

I am asking because if I switch to a 2X I know I believe I will have a larger view, but what will happen to my long shots around 100 yards? Is my accuracy going to go down too?

Who uses what set-ups & how do ya like them? If I'm going to make a change I need to figure if it's worth it & then get moving on it now.

Well, why not a low power variable. I use a Bushnell dusk to dawn 1.5 - 4.5. For stand hunting where I can see a ways, I set it at 4.5. For walking or hunting thicke stuff I crank it down. Mine cost around $70.

Look at Sightron SII low powered variables..rugged and have great eye relief. A leupold VXII 1-4 or vari-xII 1-4 would be fine as well. Both would have great eye relief. I always used a Leupold 2.5x on slug guns and never needed more.

I use a red dot scope. I don't think that there is anything better for slug hunting.
