Default variable scopes

When you are sighting in variable scopes, do you use the lowest power first then zoom in after every so many rounds or what? I have always used open sights and fixed powers. Any help is appreciated.

Default RE: variable scopes

Just as a rule I like to use the low power to get on the paper. Then move the scope up in power. I don't think it matters. If it is at zero on 3 power it is at zero at 9 power.
Hope this helps
