Need help identifying this gun.....*Updated w/ pics*

Well I just picked up a .22 hornet that has been in my family for generations. I believe it is a Savage/Stevens. I don't know how old it is, but it is in great shape, and all I know is my father bought it from my great grandfather in 1969. It is a single shot rifle, with a break open action on it, NEF style. It has a lever on the top of the gun that you push to the right to break the action open, kind of like how most over/under shotguns are. It also have some engraving under the gun of a waterfowl scene. It isn't much, but this gun means the world to me knowing it has been in the family this long and it is in great shape for a rifle of this age. I plan on having a new stock made for this gun and to have it reblued as well to clean it up a bit. I also will be ordering a new scope tonight as well.
Any ideas on what model of gun this thing is? I will take pics tonight to post up. Any help is much appreciated.

It would help if you would post any distinguishing marks it had on it i.e. ... any writing or printing on it, dates of manufacture............shape and type of stock, length of barrel, ....you said it is a 22 hornet right? And definitely a Savage or a Stevens?
I found a Savage Model 219 that could be as you describe. Introduced in 1938 and dropped in 1965...
And a Savage 219L introduced in 1965 and dropped in 1967
My Modern book of Gun values is an old publication so the values listed are probably a little low, but not much.
Get back on here with more info and I'll try to narrow it down for you.

After a quick google search of Savage 219, it appears as if it may be one of those. The only writing on the gun is on the right side as your looking down the barrel, on the reciever part of the barrel and it says Proof Tested - .22 Hornet. I will Try to upload some pics here in a second.

Here are some pics. Does anyone know what this thing is worth? It is in excellent shape. I wish there was a way to know how old this is, sounds like they made them for quite a few years. And I definately wouldn't get rid of this thing for the world, I am just curious to learn as much as possible about it. I wonder if there are aftermarket stocks out there that would be as simple as bolting on? My father had a gun smith build a new stock for it, however the butt piece didn't come out 100%. I would like this replaced and matched to the fore end, and then have it all checkered like the original stock.

It definitely LOOKs like the 219 in my Modern Book of Gun Values.
Here's the description.........
"Savage Model 219: hammerless take-down single shot; 25" barrel; 22 Hornet, .25-20,30-30,.32-20; shotgun type action with top lever, uncheckered walnut pistol-gripstock, forearm; open rear sight, bead front on ramp. Introduced in 1938; dropped in 1967. Used value, $125 to $135................"
Remember though, my book is a 1991 edition......so the values are not up to date

I just ordered a set of Burris Zee High rings and another Simmons ATV 4.5x14x40AO just like the one on my .17 hmr. I gotta give natchezss.com a free plug, at $79 this scope is a steal. I can't wait to see what it does on paper, I used to shoot it all the time as a kid at woodchucks and foxes, but I never had it on a bench.
