Ruger Vaquero

I want to get an old styled .357 revolver, I've been thinking about the ruger vaquero, does anyone have any experience with this gun?? I'm also wondering about colt and S&W's but I haven't ever looked at any certain models?

I dont have any personal experience with the vaquero as i am not an avid handgunner. But, the writers raved about the new birds-head grip model in the last issue of guns and ammo.

RE: Ruger Vaquero

The Ruger Vaquero is a great Single Action.I would choose one of the Ruger Blackhawks over the Vaquero only because of the adjustable sights. There is a Bisley with adjustable sights.See which one is most comfortable to you.Colts are getting hard to come by and getting very pricey.S&W as far as I know have never made S/A like Ruger or Colt.S&W did make a S/A model 14 but has been discontinued. It was the same as a Model 15 except S/A. I agree with Redhawk, you will like either the Vaquero or the Blackhawk. IMO I like the grip on my Bisley better than the regular grip and I don't like the birdshead except for the lighter calibers.(.357 and smaller)It tends to roll back in my hand to much with the big bores.
