.25 WSSM

I don't have any small bores these days and I was looking at a Browning A bolt in a med-heavy barrel at Scheels.

Place your bets.... so many new cartridge introductions lately. What do you think the chance is that this will be an orphan in 5 years?

I think you could flip a coin on that one, I myself have a 25-06, and love it!!!! Time tested, its here to stay!!! Just my .02 worth. I like the Browning idea, though, I bet its a real nice gun! My Ruger 25-06 is a med heavy barrel too, and its a real good shooter.

I'll stick with my 257 Roberts. No worries about it being a flash in the pan and no feeding problems either.

.257 Roberts makes a lot of sense. Popular here in my area. Other than feeding questions, I am also wondering about barrel life. I am not sure how hot those jug rounds are burning.

I don't think the WSSM's will be around too long. There is just no improvement really over the current longer action clones of the same caliber. These can be had in rifles that are about 1" longer total, and whose case capacity is two more per rifle, and less feeding problems. I would stick with the two time tested reliables, .25-06 and .257 Roberts.

The wsm's will be around for a while like someone else said. At least the 270 and the 300. I would skip on ANY of the wssm's and get a 25-06 or 257 roberts.
