RE: Hevishot Chokes for Duck
Bigcountry- did you pick the no.6's for ducks?
I haven't quite figured out what sizes to use for different game. I've always used No 4 steel for ducks, so I'm thinking No. 6's might be good for duck then? I'm going to try no 2's for geese, but I wonder what the application of No 4's would be best used for. I looked at Remington's site and didn't realy see any recommendations other than using shot 2 sizes smaller than in steel. |
RE: Hevishot Chokes for Duck
For Teal, I got #6, and for mallards, buffleheads, canvasbacks, etc, I figure #2 will do nicely and also have geese in my area that pass by while decoying mallards. They say #2 hevi will work better than T steel at 25 yards. I will have to see it to believe it.

RE: Hevishot Chokes for Duck
If you would like to check it out, we have some information on our website about different shot size and choke tube combinations for various hunting scenarios. We manufacture choke tubes, and do quite a bit of test firing with various OTC ammo, and sometimes a few handloads. You can find the info at www.wilsonprecision.com Look for the Library section, on the right-hand side of the page. Thanks guys.
