gun comparison

I am thinking about getting a new rifle. As of now, I have a few .22's and a shotgun, but would like a rifle for deer season this fall. The one's I am considering are:
(all the prices sited are from Walmart)

Win Model 70 Featherweight - $560
Savage Hunter 11G - $394
Ruger M77 Mark II - $463

I am thinking about getting all of them in .270 or .308

I am looking for a good deal, the most gun for my money. I also want a beautiful looking gun! Any input?

If the beauty of the gun is a high priority then you'll probably rule out the Savage right away. I personally like the lines of the Ruger...but not so much i'd pass on a better price in the Winchester. Looks like you already know the cheapest of the 2 guns you wil probably find more visually appealing. Both the Winchester and the Ruger have a safety you may find easier to operate as well.
Good luck.

The Savage will probely out shoot the other 2 . I agree the Savage will not win the looks contest . If the Savage has the Acutrigger you can't beleave how nice it is . The 270 will be in a 111G I think.

I have no problem with the looks of the Savage. I have a plain-jane 110 in 30-06 that is as rugged and reliable a rifle as I've ever owned. Probably the cheapest new rifle I've ever purchased, but also one of the best shooting. And it only has the OLD trigger.
In a couple years I hope to find a Savage with the new trigger that has had the barrel shot out and a little rough treatment on the stock. I'll buy ot for what it will be worth and do an Adams & Bennett barrel swap on it.
If you're on a budget and want a real deal, consider the Savage package guns....especially a year old model at one of the big distributors. I'd definitely hold out for the accu-trigger though.

If the cost isn't a factor, I'd take the Winchester. The Savage is a fine gun for the money, but the Winchester and Ruger are more refined rifles.

I would buy the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight. Good luck.
