6.8mm remington spc?

Is anyone doing a sporter piece on this? Maybe I am using the wrong search engine, but all I pull up is Walter Mitty stuff.

Kind of looks like yet another assault cartridge in the 30-30 class of effectiveness. (Hmmm, do you suppose those government techies drift thru ballistics tables and notice that a long, long time ago....)

The M16; fastest shooting squirrel rifle to ever be issued to a standing army.

I don't think this one is so much on the techies. From what I understand this was brought about by a few special forces guys who got tired of carrying gopher ammo into battle but needed a cartridge that worked in the AR-15 action. So they came up with a castrated 270 basically. It isn't intended to replace the 5.56mm (223), but rather serve as a special purpose cartridge for the special forces. I still see nothing wrong with the 308 Win.

If the gent that developed the 280 British is still around, I would think he is having an "I told you so" attitude right now.

Oh, heavens I finally found a couple articles and photos. It is a .30 cal Remington necked down to a .27! The 30 Rem was the rimless 30-30! ROFL.

God help me I hope they get it in production soon. I'm on the retired list but they can still call me back up to age 60.
