Synthetic stocks can you cut?

Can you cut a synthetic stock and are they hollow inside. I would like to shorten my sons remington about an inch. I have done many wood stocks. Also is a band saw the best way to cut one.

RE: Synthetic stocks can you cut?

Most factory synthetic stocks I've seen are hollow in the butt area for better balance they might have a styro-foam filler to quiet them but that's about all. If you shorten one plan on cleanig out about 1" of that foam and replacing it with Bondo, Acraglas Gel or anything a recoil pad screw can bite into.
